New Canopy Suites for 2011

Set with a backdrop of lush rainforest, the Canopy Suites will each feature a private viewing gallery to watch the birds, butterflies and monkeys going about their business.

Each suite will have a double bed, two singles and an en-suite bathroom.

These unique rooms will give the guest an unrivalled experience, especially for nature lovers who are looking for a true tropical island experience.

Construction on these rooms will take place over the monsoon and they will be available for occupancy in early 2011.

Resident Biologist on Site

In 2011 Melina Beach is delighted to announce the presence of a full time resident biologist. Guests will have the opportunity to turn a beach holiday in to a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The biologist will be running alternate trips to go jungle trekking in Tioman's virgin rainforest and mangroves as well as snorkelling on the pristine coral reefs. Night walks will also be available and guests have the chance to spot some of the rainforest's exciting nocturnal animals such as porcupines, fireflies, owls and flying lemurs. Tours can be tailored for adults and children with any specific interests.

Visiting these stunning natural habitats with a qualified biologist as a guide means that guests will get a rare opportunity to learn about the native flora and fauna and how these tropical ecosystems work. Following a biologist into the forest or out on the reef will really give you a different insight into the hidden treasures of Tioman Island.

In addition, the biologist will be running regular seminars on responsible tourism, conservation issues and introductions to tropical ecosystems.

Melina Beach is proud to be the only resort on the island currently offering this service and is looking forward to spreading the word about conservation through education.
